Lyrics: The Composition

SECTION TWO

SAMPLING

“To seize the flying thought before it escapes us is our only  touch with reality.” –  Ellen Glasgow

The Title Line or HOOK
(The make or break element of the Song)

Make the title prompt you to write the song. After all it is the title of your song that people will relate to most – first and last. People are fascinated by the title when they listen to a song or read it on the CD cover. If your title interests you, the same could happen to others. So it is your duty to ensure that the title is the best one you can come up with, one that also tells what your song is about.

How and where do you start? Impromptu! Well, if you are undecided on a topic, start randomly making a list of titles – whatever short lines or phrases that crop up in your mind – on whatever subjects or topics. Do not critique and do not reason. Make it appear like fun. Just keep on writing till you have listed down quite a few of them to begin with.

You can then sort them out and you will be surprised to find more than line of phrase or expression worthy of expounding or depicting into a full-fledged theme. You start dressing up the title/s colorfully, that is, finding or replacing the original words that form the title with those most appropriate ones that sound as emotional and graphic as possible. Your thesaurus would be of immense help here. Once you have the title ready or even the hint of it, the other elements of the theme will flow through your thought-process as you proceed building up the theme from any perspective [point of view], part-by part, from a mere outline into a complete set of lyrics. It is also possible sometimes that you would want to compose the title after you have done the chorus or a couple of the verses first, that is, considering that you already have an idea of what the theme of your song is about.

Starting Guidelines

     1. Look into your random list. Have you short-listed some of the titles that appear interesting, however vague?

     2. Alternatively, switch on the TV and latch onto some news item titles or action dialogues from movies and interviews that sound interesting to you. Other immediate sources are magazines, books, newspapers, CDs covers, conversational phrases, even slang, sermons or just anything that catches your fancy.

     3. Write down the actual words or titles you hear or read. Then swap, add and replace words of the title line to make it finally look as personal and to your liking as possible.

     4. Study the title/s from various angles or point of view. If you apply the five W‟s – What, When, Where, Why and How to any title or line of thought, you will find yourself coming up with many ideas one or two of which you could develop into your song‟s storyline. This will be discussed in greater details later when dealing with the development of each section of the song.

Title Line Can Tell a Tale

“Why does it have to be this Way?”
“Don’t Let Us Be Messing"
“Playing the Waiting Game"
"She has Stars In her Eyes”
"This Sunrise is Mine”
“Never Seen So Many Rainbows Before”

Each of these titles is easy to grasp, to relate to and each can tell a story from many different perspectives or points of view.

GODFATHER of the Pakistan's ISI (Continuation... 2)

GEO POWER POLITICS - Articles

Article:         The GODFATHER of Pakistan's ISI

Article: The GODFATHER of Pakistan's ISI
(Continuation... 2)

Although some Islamic countries publicly disfavor American Foreign Policy as anti-Islamic, the covert support of the Americans is largely anticipated and sought by the Islamic fundamentalists as it serves the interests of both. The US foreign policy, it appears, is not keen on eliminating Islamic militancy but rather sustaining it to achieve the goals of either side. Towards this agenda, how the CIA covertly uses the international Islamic brigands, like the ISI, to carry out its nefarious objectives, can be seen from the unfolding of the following events:

During the Taliban War, the leader of the Northern Alliance was General Ahmad Shah Masood  but the USA viewed him as a social reformer and as backed by the Russians. US covertly supported another Afghan group. This led to General Masood’s untimely death by assassination on the 9th of Sept. 2001, by two Arab suicide bombers posing as journalists. Thereafter, it was officially confirmed to the US by the Northern Alliance that the assassination was carried out under the orders received from the ISI-Osama-Taliban command.

Two days following Masood’s killing, the USA suffered the 9/11 terrorist attacks with the use of civilian airplanes hijacked and flown into the buildings by suspected Islamic terrorists, alleged to be mostly from the Saudi Arabia. The blame and responsibility for this terrible crime was decidedly placed on the dreaded terrorist outfit of Al Qaeda led by Osama Bin Laden, even before all the attacks materialized.

Impossible to believe; all the sophisticated, modern defense machinery and intelligence network of the American superpower failed to prevent or stop the massive 9/11 attacks from happening.  But this huge intelligence failure and human tragedy, appearing to serve some hidden sinister purpose, indeed resulted in the US State Administration and the Pentagon gaining super momentum to endorse a new policing system of home defense and mounting its aggressive international policy of War on Terror; to hunt down and destroy the alleged mass murderer, Osama bin Laden and his dreaded Al Qaeda.  Ironically, Osama bin Laden remained alive and elusive long after 9/11 and his Al Qaeda assets went about carrying out their destructive business in whatever manner and wherever possible.

The US intelligence was informed well in advance by foreign intelligence services such as from Germany, France, Canada and even India about the impeding threats of attack by Islamic terrorists on American soil, some very specifically.  But the US intelligence and the Pentagon chose to ignore them for reasons best known to themselves.  This act of gross carelessness or rather deliberately ignoring the crucial intelligence received, on the part of the US government, resulted in a horrible American disaster, almost similar to that of the Pearl Harbor bombing by the Japanese in December 1941.

About a week before the attacks, the Chief of Pakistan’s ISI, General Mahmoud Ahmad, happened to in the US, supposedly to hold talk with the US State Department officials regarding the curbing of terror activities.  When the attacks took place, General Ahmad was in the USA.  And, he was still here on the 13th of September when USA declared full-scale war on world terrorism with the active support from the government of Pakistan. The irony of it all being that the ISI then, as it is now, maintained a strong relationship with the Islamic terror network, thanks to the covert support of the CIA.

Shortly after the 9/11 attacks, there appeared in the media, on TV and in newspapers, reports that a Pakistani connection was suspected in funding the terrorists.  The Indian daily, The Times of India, broke the news that the ISI Chief, General Mahmoud Ahmad, had arranged the transfer of 100,000 US dollars to Mohammed Atta, the alleged leader of the terrorist group.  This goes to suggest that the ISI was intimately involved with the hijackers, and at the same time, maintaining close contacts within the US Administration.

As for the whereabouts of Osama bin Laden, in July 2001, he was reportedly (French daily Le Figaro October, 2001) receiving kidney dialysis treatment at the American Hospital in Dubai (The United Arab Emirates), between the 4th and 14th of July, and, meantime, this “Enemy of America” was meeting with the local CIA Head of Station in Dubai, besides being visited by family members and important persons from the Saudi Arabia and the U.A.E. governments.

Osama bin Laden then figured on the Most Wanted List of the FBI and while the CIA officials in Dubai were meeting with him at the American Hospital, questions were raised why was not bin Laden, the arch enemy of the US,  arrested there and then?

Reuters also later reported: “At the time, bin Laden had a multi-million dollar price on his head for his suspected role in the 1998 bombings of two US embassies in East Africa”.

There is also a fascinating CBS news report stating that, as per information received from the ISI, a day ahead of the 9/11 attacks, Osama bin Laden was receiving medical treatment in the Military Hospital at Pakistan Army’s Headquarters in Rawalpindi.  Again, surprising that the US military advisers based in Rawalpindi military sector made no move whatsoever to capture bin Laden.

Despite the Pakistan’s ISI clear involvement with the alleged 9/11 terrorists, and Osama bin Laden’s later unrestricted movements, it shows that the US Administration’s War on Terrorism and its Foreign Policy has a parallel hidden agenda from the one that is presented and openly preached inside and outside the USA.

Almost a decade later, the purported long search for the Al Qaeda fugitive leader finally ended in May 2011, with his assassination in a night raid on his house in a compound near
the garrison town of Abbottabad, Pakistan, by a team of U.S. Navy SEALs.   The most wanted man was all along living there with his family and bodyguards.

Hard to believe, that within a walking distance were the Pakistan Military Academy,  and nearby  the Brigade Headquarters of the Pakistan's Second Division of the Northern Army Corps.

Meantime, the ISI - the incorrigible intelligence arm of the Pakistan’s armed forces is content in being manipulated under the patronage of its godfather, the CIA.

 CHAPTER 3 (Continued...)

"The Queen is safe, but confined to her summer residence. No harm shall come to her."

Though relieved, Senenmut responded, ”I must see her and I cannot be a fugitive in my own country.. You go back and tell Tuthmosis that. I must return to the Palace and speak before the Royal Court officials. They alone can decide my fate. I must know what wrongdoing I am condemned for, to deserve such a grave sentence and suffer dishonor. Is there no justice in our great land of Kemet?

Has Tuthmosis forgotten that I have been his mentor and guardian all through his growing years? If today he commands the might of the Kemite army, he should be grateful to me for his military skills.”

"Once again, I beg your pardon, Chief Steward. My strict orders are to stop you, if necessary, by use of force. That means loss of life on both sides. We do not need this, my Lord. I empathize with the situation that you’re in.”

"If you do, Thanuny, go back and use your good offices to wake up the dead conscience of your new master. I must meet with the Queen and speak to the Court Officials. Till then, my soldiers remain battle-ready for any confrontation."

"My Lord, my orders are to tell you that your soldiers are free to return to Kemet after putting down their arms. The Pharaoh will enlist them in his army.

Djedefre heard this and looked at his Commander-in-Chief, "My Lord, I can assure you not a single soldier under my command will even entertain such a thought.” And turning towards Thanuny, "All of us owe our allegiance to our Commander-in-Chief, Vizier Senenmut. Your new Pharaoh cannot command our respect over his. The honorable Vizier has seniority to the throne of Pharaoh."

Thanuny did not take well to the retort coming from his counterpart, "Be careful with your words, Commander. You’re a foreigner..."

Senenmut interrupted him, "Enough... I cannot tolerate this threat against entering my own city.

Thanuny, return and tell Tuthmosis that I shall remain here outside the city-gate until midday. After which, I shall lead my soldiers towards the gate. May our beloved Amun-Ra forgives Tuthmosis should any precious Kemite blood spill."

Before Thanuny could respond in protest, Senenmut dismissed him with a quick wave of his hand, same time ordering Djedefre, "Do the courtesy to escort our guest Thanuny half-way to his lines."

Thanuny wheeled his horse around speaking to Djedefre, 'There'll be no need for it. I know my way through."

Then, turning towards Senenmut, he warned, "Chief Vizier, nothing good would come by defying the Pharaoh Tuthmosis."

    Senenmut chose to ignore Thanuny.
